For this project, I worked together with my classmates Noah Marut and Jerry Zhang to create a design for a frame that can hold plants in the school's greenhouse. The caretaker of the greenhouse, Ms. Krejnik, set some constraints and objectives for our design.
Objectives:
-Utilize vertical space in greenhouse -Take advantage of areas with lots of sunlight -Accommodate for watering system |
Constraints:
-Budget of $100 -Must be modifiable -Easy to move |
The triangular prism was our first design, but we determined that the rectangular design was better overall, even though it would cost more. It would be able to support more weight, and it would also have the ability to hold plants on top of it in addition to the hanging capabilities of the first design.

Reflection:
The actual building portion of our project will have to be delayed until June. Our indecision on the subject of our design resulted in a late proposal to the school. At first, our group lacked good communication, with some misunderstandings and very few meetings. Once we actually set a schedule for ourselves and decided on what to do, the project proceeded smoothly. In the future, I hope to prioritize communication efforts and emphasize punctuality in order to prevent this sort of late start on projects. |
