IntroductionThe goal of this project was to create a state machine that cycles through the last 4 digits of my phone number. I opted to use a simulator to create the circuit. We also had to add a switch that allowed the state to change. Since I'm essentially just rotating through states, I used the button as a clock to increment a counter with each value assigned to a state.

NotebookReflectionMy logic simplified down to essentially just two NOR gates, so the wiring wasn't very difficult. I did try to organize the wires better, and I think I managed to do a much better job than on my previous projects. I did have some issues, however. A classmate helped me troubleshoot a bit and we discovered that I had a short on my NOR gate. I had assumed that the chip was the same as the ones I had used in my physical builds, but the inputs and outputs were the opposite of what I was used to. In the future, I need to make sure I know which pins are which on the chips I use.
